About
Welcome to Window 3.
It's been five years since we last visited the original Window 3, the infamous processing window at the French consulate in New York. It was there we learned that first, essential French phrase: "ce n'est pas possible."
The plain meaning, "it is not possible," like any literal translation, does not do the phrase justice. In actuality, the meaning is far deeper, capable of conveying at any one time a range of thoughts, including, "I don't feel like it"; "I don't like you despite only meeting just now"; and of course, "I am too tired for this at the moment. Perhaps tomorrow or another time in some distant and nebulous future."
But we digress. This blog is not about hating the terribly run French consulate in New York (okay, perhaps it is a bit about that). No, the bigger point here: this is a blog about our travel experiences - good and bad, confusing and surprising, appetizing and ... revolting.
And so although it took us a combined 7 visits to Window 3 at the French consulate in New York to gain permission to study abroad in Paris, it was also the start to what has now become many years of travel, and even a marriage in the mix. So it only seems apt that this blog should bear that same name.
Welcome to Window 3. Please stay as long as you like and visit at least 7 times to fully appreciate the experience.
